Mezzanine Floor Fire Rating
Fire protection is critical in slowing the spread of fire to maintain structural integrity long enough to allow safe exit by employees or customers. It also enables safer entry to fire fighters should a person or persons need rescuing.
Fire protection is an important part towards building regulations approval. If you require it all depends on a number of elements and listed below will give you a guide to see if your floor will need it.
Mezzanine floor fire protection usually includes a 60-minute fire rated suspended ceiling installed to the underside of the mezzanine, with a fascia / bulk head to all exposed sides of mezzanine floor. The fascia / bulk head fills the void between the ceiling and underside of the chipboard decking on all exposed sides.
Each steel column that supports the mezzanine floor will also have a PVC cladding to give them a 60-minute fire rating.
We can provide the following fire rating:
- Suspended ceilings
- Column casings
- Cavity barriers
- Bulkheads / fascias
- Staircase enclosures
- Fire walls
- Sprinkler systems
- Smoke detection systems
- Emergency lighting
The diagram below is a simple guide to if your project might require fire-rating, however we will always discuss this with you in detail as fire-rating and building regulations are a complex matter.
